TRIBUTE

I was sad to learn of the death of Kevin Baker, who co-authored with Peter Deadman the seminal textbook of acupuncture in the west, ‘A Manual of Acupuncture’.

Born in 1953, Kevin qualified in medicine from Cambridge University and St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1979 and went on to specialise in accident and emergency medicine and surgery. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.

In 1989, he began a three year course in acupuncture at the London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine followed by postgraduate training at the Nanjing College of TCM. In 1998, he also became an accredited UKCP psychotherapist.

Kevin worked as a GP, combining orthodox and complementary medicine, in the UK and New Zealand.

He leaves behind a wife and family. He will be sadly missed by many in the acupuncture profession, for whom he remains a source of inspiration.
