Mark Kiely – Lic Ac, MBAcC, BSc (Hons)
London Acupuncture Practitioner
Mark Kiely Lic Ac, MBAcC, BSc (Hons) has worked as an acupuncture practitioner in London since qualifying in 2007.
Previously, he had worked in the wine trade. Mark has travelled extensively and on his travels became fascinated by many aspects of Asian culture. When he decided to look for a change in direction and a new career path, having himself previously been treated by acupuncturists for a major illness, Mark decided that this was the new direction he wanted to follow. He began his studies to become an acupuncture practitioner in 2003, attending the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for four years. Upon graduation, he became a full member of the British Acupuncture Council. Having worked for one year in the student clinic under clinical supervision prior to qualification, Mark established his own practice in 2007 in Dulwich. He currently works in three locations in south London, in Greenwich, Camberwell, and Battersea.
Mark is on the accredited register of the Professional Standards Authority and is also a full member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
Training
The course that Mark studied to qualify as an acupuncture practitioner is fully comprehensive and covers the following areas:
• The principles and application of traditional Chinese diagnosis as relates to acupuncture treatment
• The location of acupuncture points on the human body and the specific properties of each point
• Human anatomy
• Western medical physiology and pathology, including training in looking for any potential clinical red flags
• During his time of study, Mark also completed a course in medical Qi Gong. He regularly practises these postures and will demonstrate for patients the particular exercises that may be of benefit to them.
